Norma Jean (Collenberger) Liffick, age 85 of Oakland, died Sunday, January 29, 2012 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, IL. Norma was born August 10, 1926 in Decatur, IL to Maurice Bert and Goldie Irene (Doty) Jones. Her father passed away when she was very young, and her mother remarried to Virgil Collenberger, who raised her. She married Dee L. Liffick on November 21, 1946 in Stonington, IL. She was self-employed as a transportation contractor with Liffick Transportation for local school districts for 47 years. Norma was a member of the Murdock United Methodist Church and the Hugo Jolly Bunch club since 1946. She enjoyed gardening, was a great cook and dearly loved her grandchildren. Norma is survived by her husband of 65 years, Dee Liffick of Oakland, IL; a son, Rodney (Becky) Liffick of Oakland, IL; a daughter, Sandee (Bill) Van De Wyngaerde of Urbana, IL, two sisters, Betty Coffey of Elmhurst, IL and Margaret Blakeman of Normal, IL; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 1, 2012 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Krabel Funeral Home in Oakland, IL. A funeral service will follow the visitation beginning at 1:00 p.m. Interment will be in Van Voorhis Cemetery. For those who wish, memorials may be made to the Douglas County Humane Society in care of the funeral home.
