Obituary for Norma Gene Hinson
Norma Gene Hinson, age 86 of Charleston, IL and formerly of Effingham, IL, went home to be with the Lord Saturday, February 11, 2012 at Charleston Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center. Mrs. Hinson was born January 9, 1926 in Bible Grove, IL to Kirk A. and Althea J. (Lewis) Winterrowd. She married Arthur P. Hinson on December 23, 1946 in Effingham, IL. She attended Bible Grove Schools, graduated from Alton High School in 1943 and from McKendree College in 1946. She taught English at Altamont High School and Latin at Louisville High School, and was a member of the Centenary United Methodist Church in Effingham. She enjoyed knitting, quilting and gardening. Mrs. Hinson is survived by two sons: Paul Brien Hinson of Oakland, IL and Kirk Allen (Donna) Hinson of Grosse Ile, MI; two granddaughters: Nicole Elise Hinson and Kristen Mariah Hinson of Grosse Ile, MI; three step-grandchildren: Michelle Kille of Chicago, IL, Brent Kille of Phoenix, AZ and David Kille of Ann Arbor, MI; two brothers: Doyne Winterrowd of Effingham, IL and Lewis (Dorothy Lee) of Lebanon, IL; two nieces: Jane (Dan) Northcutt of Mt. Vernon, IL and Sherry (Verne) Christ of Lebanon, IL; and a nephew, Bruce (Claudia) Winterrowd of Naperville, IL. She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; her sister and brother-in-law, Louise and Alfred Manis; a nephew, Terry Lewis Winterrowd; and two sisters in law, Helen Beguelin Winterrowd and Edna Kampmeyer Winterrowd. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 15, 2012 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Krabel Funeral Home in Oakland. Visitation will also be held Thursday, February 16 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Centenary United Methodist Church in Effingham, IL, with a funeral service to follow beginning at noon. Burial will be in Shouse Chapel Cemetery in Bible Grove, IL. For those who wish, may be made to the Oakland United Methodist Church or the Centenary United Methodist Church in care of the funeral home.
