Obituary for Nancy Marie Houk
Nancy Marie Houk, age 85, of Oakland, IL, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, August 9, 2018. Nancy was born August 30, 1932, in Chicago, IL, to Oliver and Marie (Kozak) Seaberg. She married Frederick Leroy Elftmann on October 6, 1951, he preceded her in death on December 23, 1972. She later married James Robert “Bob” Houk on August 3, 1975, he preceded her in death on February 24, 2007. Nancy attended the American Academy of Art, was a longtime employee of Vesecky’s Bakery in Berwyn, IL, and later worked at Festival Sausage for over 25 years. She was confirmed in the Lutheran Church, and later attended the Oakland United Methodist Church. Nancy was active in serving her communities throughout her life, as a lifetime member of the PTA, as well as a member of LMI Club, and the United Methodist Women. She volunteered at the Oakland Memorial Library and the Oakland Food Pantry. She enjoyed travel, dancing, swimming, going barefoot, crossword puzzles, and playing cards. She was an avid fan of Cardinals baseball and various football teams. Most of all, Nancy loved spending time with her family and many friends. Nancy was preceded in death by her two husbands, and her parents. She is survived by her dog, Malibu; five children: Deb Gorgol of Oakland, IL; Jim (Diana) Elftmann of St. Joseph, IL; Mike (Brenda) Houk of Oakland, IL; Gary Houk of Oakland, IL; and Jill (Roger) Good of Ft. Myers, FL; one brother: Dick (Sheila) Seaberg of Plainfield, IL; five grandchildren: Rob Elftmann of St. Joesph, IL; Andy (Jada) Houk of Oakland, IL; Elisha (Brad) Farmer of Oakland, IL; Kristi Harris of Idaho Falls, ID; and Colby (Melinda) Willison of Charlotte, NC; and nine great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held Tuesday, August 14, 2018 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Krabel Funeral Home in Oakland, IL. Funeral will be held Wednesday, August 15, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home, with burial to follow at Oakland Cemetery. For those who wish, memorials may be made to the Oakland Memorial Library or the Oakland Ambulance.
