Monte Ray Woodyard, age 71, of Mattoon, IL, died June 15, 2025, at his home.
Monte was born August 8, 1953, in Charleston, IL, to Ray Finis and Ethel Jeanne (Richey) Woodyard. He married Nancy Beavers on May 18, 1974, in Ashmore, IL, and they later divorced. They had two children: Krista “Dawn” Lindsey (Mark) of Matton, IL, and Kayla “KJ” Woodyard of Matton, IL; both survive their father.
He is also survived by a brother: Doug Woodyard (Susan) of Ashmore, IL; five grandchildren: Ashley Barrett, Maisie Parsley, Madyson Parsley, Deegan Parsley, and Trustin “Curly” Lindsey; three great-grandchildren; one niece Tiffany Woodyard Ingle and one nephew Cory Woodyard.
Monte was a member of the Ashmore Baptist Church. He was an avid fisherman and hunter, and enjoyed motorcycle riding, and collecting coins and pocketknives.
A graveside funeral will be held on Thursday, June 19, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at Ashmore Cemetery. For those who wish, memorials in Monte’s honor may be made to St. Jude Research Hospital for Children.
