Mildred “Millie” (Tuttle) Gray, age 85, of Oakland, IL, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, November 15, 2022, at her home.
Millie was born January 18, 1937, in Orange Township near Darwin, IL, to Albert Russel and Neva L. (Bowen) Tuttle. She graduated from Paris High School in 1955. Millie married Leroy Gray on September 14, 1957, at the Oakland Christian Church and they enjoyed 54 years together before Leroy’s death in 2011.
Millie graduated from Richland Beauty School in Mattoon, IL, in January of 1965, and operated a beauty shop in her home for over 54 years. She also worked for the A & P Grocery in Paris during high school, and as a secretary for Carl Killion, the Illinois State Supt. Of Division of Apiaries, from 1955-1962.
She is survived a son: Eric Leroy Gray of Oakland, IL; a brother: Albert Dale Tuttle of Paris, IL; six grandsons: Chris, Brent, Steven, Terry, Tyler and Tanner Gray; nine great-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; a special foster son: Lalit Vora of Toronto, Canada; a niece, Rachel Hart of OK, and a nephew, Harry Collier of Paris, IL. She is also preceded in death by a son: Tod Gray; her parents; and two sisters: Lorene Collier and Leona Hart.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 19, 2022, at 1:00 p.m. at Krabel Funeral Home in Oakland, IL. Visitation will be held for two hours prior to the service, beginning at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow in Oakland Cemetery. For those who wish, memorials in Millie’s honor may be given to the Oakland Christian Church.
