Obituary for Mary Lou Krabel
Mary Lou (Craig) Krabel, age 79, of Brocton, was called to Heaven on Wednesday, December 8, 2010 at Paris Community Hospital. She was born June 17, 1931 near Cherry Point in rural Chrisman to Archie Lee and Retta Faye (Newport) Craig. She married Lloyd J. Krabel on June 11, 1950; he survives. Also surviving are one son, Lloyd Ray (Lisa) Krabel of Brocton; two daughters, Connie Weber of Brocton, and Marsha (Kevin) Smith of Hume; one brother, Jim Craig of Griggsville, IL; five sisters, Rosalee Krabel of Brocton, Betty Kraemer of Chrisman, Jo Ann Lacey of Rancho Cucamonga, CA, Lucille Good of Charleston, IL, and Elsie Ingram of Chrisman; six grandchildren, Tiffany Krabel, Jenni Hall, Jeremiah Smith, Erin Krabel, Alison Smith and Kate Weber; and one great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by three brothers. Mary Lou was a lifelong resident of Edgar County and a member of the Brocton United Methodist Church. She served as the Embarrass Township Clerk for seven years. She was a homemaker and a farm wife. She enjoyed gardening, flowers, sewing, crafts and dearly loved her family. Her bright smile, warm laughter and kind spirit will be missed by her family and many friends. Visitation will be held on Friday, December 10, 2010 from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at Krabel Funeral Home in Oakland. Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 11, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Payne Cemetery. For those who wish, memorials may be made to the Brocton Fire Department in care of the funeral home, or to any organization of the donor’s choice.
