Obituary for Mary Elizabeth Gressel
Mary Elizabeth Gressel, age 61, of Effingham, IL and formerly of Charleston, IL passed away on Tuesday, January 14, 2014 at St. Anthony Memorial Hospital in Effingham. She was born on August 11, 1952 in Seattle, Washington to Howard McLean and Marion (Gwinn) McLean. She married James Koester, he preceded her in death. She later married Sam William Gressel on June 7, 2000 at her mother’s house in Charleston, Illinois. Mary enjoyed playing bingo, sewing pillow cases and was the biggest fan of the local band Big Blue Mountain. She is survived by her husband, Sam; two brothers: James McLean of Springfield, IL and Bill McLean of Virginia Beach, VA and several nieces and nephews. She was proceeded in death by her parents. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 18, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at Krabel Funeral Home in Oakland. Visitation will be held one hour prior beginning at 1:00 p.m. Burial will follow in Oakland Cemetery. For those who wish, memorials may be made to Krabel Funeral Home to assist with the cost of services.
