Martha Mae (York) Smitley, age 87, of Chrisman went home to be with the Lord, Tuesday, May 7, 2013 at Pleasant Meadows Christian Village. Martha was born on March 7, 1926 to Lawrence and Opal (Starwalt) York in Lerna, Illinois. She married Ralph William Smitley on December 6, 1947 in Veedersburg, Indiana. She was a lifelong resident of Chrisman and a member of the Metcalf Christian Church. She enjoyed reading and word puzzles and dearly loved her grandchildren. Martha is survived by one daughter Brenda (Mike) Porter of Chrisman, IL; three sons, Michael (Debbie) Smitley of Danville, IL, Bob (Judy) Smitley of Danville, IL and Ernie (Virginia) Smitley of Georgetown, IL; one brother, Ronald York of Olive Branch, MS; one sister, Mary Jessup of Rockville, IN; twelve grandchildren and twenty great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph; two sons, Rodger and David; her parents; three brothers; one sister; one granddaughter and two great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be Friday, May 10, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. at Krabel Funeral Home in Chrisman. Visitation will be held for two hours prior, beginning at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow in Young America Cemetery. For those who wish, memorials may be made to Pleasant Meadows Christian Village – Haven Unit.
