Margaret Maria (Blaze) Dye, age 94, of Brocton, IL, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, November 24, 2022, at Odd Fellow-Rebekah Home in Mattoon, IL.
Marge was born May 6, 1928, in Urbana, IL to Harry Harrison and Mary Agnes (Akerman) Blaze. She married Ralph Clithroe Dye on June 30, 1946, in Urbana, IL; he preceded her in death on November 11, 1987.
Marge is survived by eleven children: Howard (Bev) Dye, Linda (Leon) Richards, Kurt (Karen) Dye, Mary Hallen Dye, Patti (Riley) Milburn, Harvey (Maribeth) Dye, David (Tracy) Dye, John (Suella) Dye, Paul (Mary) Dye, Tim (Donna) Dye, and Rich (Nikki) Dye; a daughter-in-law, Janet Dye; a sister: Ruth Lowe; thirty-seven grandchildren; sixty-five great-grandchildren; and twenty-three great-great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by a son: Jerry Dye; four brothers; two sisters; four grandsons; and one great-great grandson.
Marge was a member of the Brocton American Legion Post 977 Auxiliary and Brocton Christian Church, where she served with the Willing Workers. She enjoyed fishing, reading, and gardening, and loved dogs and birds. She was well known for her amazing cooking skills, and she blessed not only her family with countless delicious meals, but the community of Brocton also enjoyed her home cooking when Marge owned and operated the Village Pump restaurant. Marge dearly loved her large family, and she will be missed by her many, many children, grandchildren, great and great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, November 29, 2022, at 12:00 p.m. at Krabel Funeral Home in Oakland, IL. Visitation will be held for two hours prior to the service, beginning at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow Payne Cemetery. For those who wish, memorials may be made to the Brocton American Legion Post 977 Auxiliary.
