Linda Marie Smith, 76, of Oakland IL, passed away peacefully on January 3, 2024 after a hard fought battle with lung cancer. She was surrounded by her children and sister at the time of her passing.
Linda was born on June 7, 1947 in Paris Illinois to Marvin and Hazel (Swinford) Duzan.
She is survived by her children: Amber Powers of Oakland, IL, Dena Woods (Brian) of Westcliffe, CO, Celina McClain (Davey) of Willow Hill, IL and Justin Smith of Oakland, IL; two sisters: Sue Campbell of Oakland, IL, Carol Coffman of Charleston, IL; a brother: Stan Duzan (Judy) of Oakland, IL; eleven grandchildren: Stephanie Hess of Willow Hill IL, Kyle Lewsader of Dover DE, Bobbi Jo Kendall of Marshall IL, Kole Lewsader of Westcliffe CO, David McClain Jr. of Chicago IL, Becki Kendall of Marshall IL, Kobe Lewsader of Westcliffe CO, Justin (JJ) Smith Jr. of Westfield IL, Kaylen McClain of Panama IL, Collyn Smith of Westfield IL and Klayton Smith of Westfield IL; nine great-grandchildren; Kloee, Kooper, Kami, Kolton, Karlee, Alexis, Byron, Cordell and Atlas. She was preceded in death by her parents: Marvin & Hazel Duzan; three brothers Timothy Duzan, Ronnie Duzan and Ray Duzan.
Linda graduated Oakland High School in 1965. Her pride and joy were her children, grandchildren and her great grandchildren, she loved her family fiercely. She had a passion for playing cards and dice games, she was hard to beat. Her favorite hobbies were fishing and mushroom hunting, always chasing a big channel catfish or a giant morel mushroom. She loved watching her games shows, crocheting, knitting, listening to her gospel music and feeding and watching her hummingbirds.
She was a member of the Friendship Baptist church and the Oak Grove Baptist Church.
Visitation will be held Sunday, January 7, 2024 from 4:00-6:00 p.m. at Krabel Funeral Home in Oakland, IL. Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 8, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. For those who wish, memorials in Linda’s honor may be made to the Oakland Food Pantry.
