Obituary for Lela Mae Key
Lela Mae (Claypool) Key, age 90 of Chrisman, IL, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, March 4, 2015 at Pleasant Meadows Senior Living.
Lela was born February 26, 1925 to Donald Ray and Ruth Ellen (Kelly) Claypool in Vermilion County, IL. She married Malcom Davis Key on February 12, 1945. She lived in the Chrisman area all her life, where she was a member of the Chrisman Christian Church. She also belonged to the Red Hatters Club and enjoyed bingo, word searches, puzzles, flea markets and reading. She dearly loved her family and will be missed by her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by seven children: Ruth Ann (Bob) Voight of Sidell, IL, Ruby (Chuck) Kindred of Chrisman, IL, Sonny (Pat) Key of Chrisman, IL, Bob (Julie) Key of Sidell, IL, Connie (Randy) Porter of Metcalf, IL, Dorma (Dave) Robison of Augusta, IL, and Penny (Kevin) Ring of Paris, IL; a sister, Lois Arnett of Danville, IL; a sister-in-law: Mary Claypool of Covington, IN; ten grandchildren: Wheeler Schmalshof, Tony Kindred, Susan Mount, Wade Key, Angie Mattingly, Brett Key, Amy Fourez, Charity Ring, Beth Ring and Cory Ring; sixteen great-grandchildren: Rachel Schmalshof, Hannah and Keyton Schmalshof, Colby and Samantha Kindred, Kindre and Tristan Quick, Masey and Wes Key, Tabbie Grubb, Abbey Mattingly, Tyler Key, Jordyn and Ledger Fourez, and Maddie and Levi Ring; and two great-great-grandchildren: Emmett Key and Jackson Phelps. She was preceded in death by her husband: Malcom Key; three brothers; one grandson: Brent Schmalshof; and one great-grandchild: Brody Key.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 8, 2015 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Krabel Funeral Home in Chrisman. Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 9, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Cherry Point Cemetery. For those who wish, memorials may be made to Pleasant Meadows Senior Living Activity Fund.
