Obituary for LaVerne Jessie Cooke
LaVerne Jessie (Maley) Cooke, age 81 of Oakland, died Saturday, June 11, 2011 at her home. She was born January 6, 1930 to Virgil and Bonnie (Albin) Maley. She married Robert Cooke on January 21, 1950. He preceded her in death. She is survived by two daughters, Cynthia (William) Calentine of Champaign, Illinois and Carol Sue Cooke of Oakland, Illinois; two brothers, Richard Maley of Decatur, Indiana and Jerry Maley of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; six grandchildren and three great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by a son, Robert Rodney Cooke and two brothers. LaVerne had lived in Oakland for twenty years, moving from Champaign. She was a homemaker and enjoyed quilting.
