Obituary for Larry Kenneth Johnson
Larry Kenneth Johnson, age 77, of Chrisman went home to be with the Lord on Monday, November 25, 2013 at his home. Larry was born on December 7, 1935 to William Clarence and Edythe Irene (Hale) Johnson in Danville, IL. On July 29, 1956 he married Virginia Louise (Ginger) Lund at the Chrisman United Methodist Church. He was a lifelong resident of Chrisman, worked as a farmer for many years before joining the First National Bank of Chrisman where he retired in 2003. Larry had a beautiful voice and dearly enjoyed sharing his talent with the community. He also enjoyed talking with friends at the coffee shop, never met a stranger and was a strong supporter of his family and community. He was a member of the Chrisman United Methodist Church where he sang in the choir, The Sons of the American Legion, Bloomfield Masonic Lodge # 148, Edgar County Shrine Club, Chrisman Area Community Club and is a board member of the First National Bank of Chrisman. Larry is survived by his wife of 57 years, Ginger Johnson of Chrisman; three daughters: Pam (Gary) Schoedel of Peoria, IL, Vicki Johnson and Karen Tharp of Pocatello, ID, Sheri (Roger) Smith of Fairmount, IL; two granddaughters: Emily (Bob) Achtstatter of Naperville, IL and Shae (Nick) Dwyer of Charlotte, NC and two great-granddaughters: Lily and Anna Achtstatter of Naperville, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother. Visitation will be held on Friday, November 29, 2013 from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the Chrisman United Methodist Church. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 30, 2013 at 10 a.m. at the church. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery. For those who wish, memorials may be made to the Chrisman United Methodist Church and the Chrisman Volunteer Fireman’s Association.
