Obituary for Larry C. Meeks
Larry Charles Meeks, age 73, of Chrisman, IL, passed away Thursday, March 26, 2020 at IU Health Bloomington Hospital in Bloomington, IN. Larry was born September 25, 1946 in Indianapolis, IN, to Charles Leon and Betty Jean (Dunn) Meeks. He married Rhea Joy Clark on March 4, 1967, and they enjoyed 53 wonderful years together. Larry was a veteran of the US Navy, and served aboard the USS Franklin Delano Roosevelt (CV-42). He was a member of Guthrie Christian Church, and the American Legion Post #477 in Chrisman. Larry was affiliated with the Bloomfield Masonic Lodge #148, and he became a Master Mason on March 22, 1980. Upon the merging of lodges, he became affiliated with the Scottland Masonic Lodge #148 in August 2017. Larry was a lifelong supporter of Riley Hospital for Children. He enjoyed fishing, Indy cars, and watching and feeding squirrels. Most of all, he dearly loved his family, and enjoyed spending time with them. Larry was preceded in death by his parents; one sister: Susan Meeks Liffick; and one brother-in-law: Jerry Dye. He is survived by his wife; their two children: Chuck (Tina) Meeks of Ellettsville, IN; and Misty (Rick) Lewis of Chrisman, IL; one brother: Howard (Julia) Meeks of Terre Haute, IN; two sisters: Janet Dye of Hume, IL; and Julie (Bobby) Key of Sidell, IL; four grandchildren: Cody (Tay) Lewis of Chrisman, IL; Kaitlyn (Brandon) Lovell of Bloomington, IN; Jacob (Sherrie) Lewis of Chrisman, IL; and Caleb (Hannah) Meeks of Deputy, IN; and two great-grandchildren: Brandon Lovell Jr. and Jackson Lewis. The family will hold a private funeral. For those who wish, memorials may be made to Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Indiana.
