Obituary for Larry Bishop
Larry Eugene Bishop, age 67, of Ridge Farm, IL, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, January 16, 2022, at his home.
Larry was born October 9, 1954, in Charleston, IL. He married Ruth Wilson on April 26, 1975, at the Allerton Church of Christ; she survives.
He is also survived by four children: Scott Bishop of Sioux City, IA, Todd Bishop of Ridge Farm, IL, Leslie Williamson of Chrisman, IL, and Brandon Bishop of Dennison, IL; three sisters: Barb Louden of Atwood, IL, Sharon Wardrip of Lovington, IL, and Mary Collins of Hume, IL; and seven grandchildren: Dakota, Olivia, Emma, Briston, Waylen, Jaxon, and Bayne. He was preceded in death by his father, Verlin Bishop, his mother, Justine Bishop, and a grandson, Wyatt Williamson.
Larry was affectionately known as “Bish,” “LawnMowerMan,” and “Papa” to his friends and family. He was a member of the Vermillion Grove Friends Church and served as a Boy Scout Leader. He was very loved and cherished by a lot of people and had always put a smile on your face regardless of the situation. Larry was a machinist at Thyssen Krupp for 45 years and then enjoyed his short retirement. There wasn't a day that went by that Larry wasn't either working on a lawnmower, chainsaw, or small engines. His passion was his working hands. Larry showed so much love to his serving wife Ruth Bishop that they were always inseparable. Larry loved to spend time with his family and grandkids and teaching them lessons on how to do things even if it was how to turn the screwdriver the right way. Larry also enjoyed "buggy" rides with his family as well.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 22, 2022, at 1:00 p.m. at Krabel Funeral Home in Chrisman, IL. Visitation will be held for two hours prior to the service, beginning at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow in Hoult Cemetery. A meal will be served after the burial at the Georgetown Banquet Hall. For those who wish, memorials may be made to Ruth Bishop.
