Obituary for John Wayne Edwards
John Wayne Edwards, age 77, of Brocton, IL passed away on Tuesday, October 31, 2017 at his home.
John was born July 13, 1940 in St. Joseph, MO to Carl and Myrtle (Proctor) Edwards. He married Sharon Kay Riggle on August 23, 1986 in Georgetown, IL; she survives.
He is also survived by a son: Lester Edwards of Albertsville, AL; four brothers: Carl (Marcy) Edwards of Powell, TN, Ronnie (Marilyn) Edwards of Dennison, IL, Roger (Cindy) Mobley of Beloit, WI, and Kenny (Connie) Mobley of Burbank, IL; a sister: Frieda (Jerry) Whellis of Burbank, IL; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers: Phillip Mobley, Lester Mobley and Larry Mobley.
John was self-employed most of his life, having previously owned and operated a gas station, a cleaning service, a body shop in Danville, and a restaurant in Brocton. He was a member of the Brocton Christian Church. He enjoyed fishing, woodworking, bowling, and spending time with his dogs.
Visitation will be held on Friday, November 3, 2017 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Krabel Funeral Home in Oakland. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 4, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Payne Cemetery. For those who wish, memorials may be given to the Edwards family to assist with expenses.
