Obituary for John Otto Lund
John Otto Lund, age 76, of Chrisman, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, January 15, 2010 at Paris Healthcare Center. He was born July 28, 1933 in Galesburg, Illinois, the son of Bert C. Lund and Elspeth L. (Logeman) Lund. He married Betsy Ann Brown on March 2, 1973 in Seattle Washington. He is survived by his wife, Betsy Ann Lund of Chrisman; a son, Richard Lund of Wichita, KS; daughters Katie Lund of Chrisman, Susan Lund of Indianapolis, IN and Jennifer (Jason) Ghionzoli of Elgin, IL; a granddaughter, Serena Lund of Chrisman; a grandson, Jonas Ghionzoli of Elgin, IL; a sister, Ginger (Larry) Johnson of Chrisman; and a brother, Carl Lund of Paris. John graduated from Chrisman High School in 1951 and attended Knox College and Modesto Junior College. He served four years in the United States Navy. He worked as an appraiser for the US Dept. of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) for twenty years, serving in California, Washington and Washington D.C. He ended his career working as an independent home appraiser. John was a member of the Chrisman United Methodist Church and the Chrisman Community Club. He served on the Chrisman School Board and the Edgar County Board. He enjoyed golf and travel. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, January 19, 2010 at 12:00 p.m. at the Chrisman United Methodist Church. Visitation will be held two hours prior to the service, from 10:00 until noon. Interment will be held at a later date. Krabel Funeral Home is handling the arrangements for the family. For those who wish, memorials may be made to the Chrisman United Methodist Church or the Edgar County Humane Society in care of the funeral home.
