Obituary for Joe Ray Morris
Joe Ray Morris, age 85 of Oakland, IL, died Saturday, February 21, 2015 at Heritage Woods in Charleston, IL.
Joe was born December 9, 1929 in Terre Haute, IN to Robert C. and Margaret (Patrick) Morris. He married Evelyn J. Robinson on December 8, 1951 in Terre Haute, IN; she survives.
He is also survived by two children: Sandra (Mike) Craven and Joe R. (Jan) Morris, Jr.; four grandchildren: Michael Craven, John Craven, Andrew Morris and Scott Morris; and two great-grandchildren: Tyler Craven and Ryan Craven. He was preceded in death by a sister, Joann Poland.
Joe was a veteran of the United States Army, having served during the Korean War, where he achieved the rank of Sgt. and received the OCC Medal (Japan), the Korean Service Medal with five Bronze Stars and the Presidential Unit Citation. He previously worked as a chemical operator at USI/Quantum. He enjoyed Indiana basketball, Cardinal baseball, and reading. Joe was a kind and gentle man who dearly loved his family.
