Obituary for Jerry Stultz Lunger
Jerry S. Lunger, age 77, of Chrisman, IL went home to be with the Lord on Monday, December 26, 2016 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, IL.
Jerry was born April 9, 1939 in Chrisman, IL to Hugh Drexel and Cleo Gertrude (Stultz) Lunger. He married Patricia Shaw on September 4, 1960 at the Chrisman First Baptist Church. Jerry was a teacher at Danville High School and retired in 1993. After retirement he was a substitute teacher at Chrisman and Shiloh schools and enjoyed farming, both for Lorenzen Farms and on his own small farm where he also spent much time working with and teaching his grandchildren about agriculture. He was a loving and devoted grandpa, and never missed any activity his grandchildren participated in for as long as his heath allowed. Jerry was a member of the Retired Teachers Association, and was a member at the Chrisman First Baptist Church and Friends Chapel Church.
He is survived by his wife, Patty Lunger; two children: Troy Dean (Michelle) Lunger of Chrisman, IL, Tasha Carol (Steve) Lawrence of Charleston, IL; a sister: Shirley (Dave) Lorenzen of Chrisman, IL; a brother: James Lunger of Las Vegas, NV; six grandchildren: Tyler, Jordyn and Hannah Lunger ,and MacKenzie, Montana, and Jalen Scroggins. He was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter: Tina Faith Lunger Scroggins.
Visitation will be held on Friday, December 30, 2016 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Krabel Funeral Home in Chrisman. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 31, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Hoult Cemetery. For those who wish, memorials may be made to the Edgar County DO IT Support Group or St. Jude Hospital for Children.
