Obituary for Jana Kyle Huddleston
Jana Kyle Huddleston joined her family and began her eternal life on Sunday, June 21, 2020. She is now free of pain and no longer has to fight her battles from diabetes and kidney failure. She was born on September 3, 1964, the 3rd child, to Ben Huddleston & Paula (Allen, Huddleston) Hawkins, in Charleston, IL. At the age of 6, Jana fell off a slide at a girl scout picnic, damaging her pancreas. This caused her Type 1 diabetes. At that time, diabetes was a death sentence, but against all odds, she lived with the disease for 50 years, until her body could just take no more, and grew tired. Jana lived a full life, playing all the sports she loved as a child, joining the band playing the sax, attending & performing the ballet in Jacki Bennett's classes & going on family vacations to Tucson, Arizona, Florida & South Carolina. Jana lived a very opportunistic life. She brought joy and created many memorable memories with those closest to her. She married Jeffery Lynn Hale in 1981, and soon after welcomed a daughter Coartney Lynn Hale. Coartney was the 1st baby born naturally by a diabetic mother in the state of Illinois. Then in 1990, she married Scott Alan Harrison, they were married for 20 years, and remained close till the day she died. During their marriage, Scott and Jana moved to Tuscola IL, where Jana worked at the Lincolnshire Fields Country Club, in Champaign. This was one of the best times in Jana's life. She was healthy, happy & had a job she absolutely loved. At this time, Jana was also a girl scout leader for Coartney's troop, which she really enjoyed. On January 1, 2000 she became a grandmother when Coartney Hale & Joe Stewart welcomed a child, the 2nd millennium baby born in Illinois, Trenton Jeffery Alan Stewart. She became a grandmother again on August 25, 2017 when Coartney & Harold Zuniga welcomed their child, Chilton Lucas Paul Zuniga. Trenton & Chilton were her life, her pride and joy. She loved those boys more than anything. Along with her little loves Trenton & Chilton, Coartney & Scott, she left behind her step-father Gene Hawkins, whom was a Godly husband to her mother. Gene took the best care of Jana, putting her needs before his own, until the day she died. She also left those who were "like her kids" Kyle Hale & Mara Tanner, her step-siblings, Chad Hawkins, Christie (Hawkins) Nelson, nieces Jamie and Jessica Huddleston, Sidney Hawkins, Kiley Nelson, Nephews Jax Brian Huddleston, Alex & Andrew Hawkins, cousins Kevin Sandstrom & Paul David, Michelle & Becky Briggerman & her beloved German Shepherd, Zoey. Jana was greeted by the Lord, with Coartney & Trenton by her side, and reunited with her mother Paula, father Benny, Brothers Brian Joe Huddleston & Terry Lee Huddleston, grandmothers Alta Huddleston & Helen McDade. Jana loved dogs, walking the woods and spending time on the beach with Coartney. For most of her life, her daughter Coartney was her best friend. They did most everything together. She will truly be missed. Visitation is at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Krabel Funeral Home, Oakland, with funeral immediately following at 3 p.m. A dinner will follow at 4 p.m. at East Harrison Street Church of God, Charleston. Make any donations payable to Coartney Hale.
