Obituary for James North
James Allen North, age 73 of Terre Haute, Indiana and formerly of Brocton, Illinois went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, January 26, 2011 at Union Hospital. Jim was born May 7, 1937 in Edgar County, Illinois to Charles E. and Nellie Mae (McDaniel) North. He farmed in the area for many years served in the National Guard for nine years. He enjoyed collecting toy tractors, reading and karaoke. He was a member of the Redmon Christian Church, a life member of the American Legion Post #346, a life member of the Oakland Masonic Lodge # 219, and a life member of the Scottish Rite Valley of Danville. He is survived by one son, Bart (Jenny) North of Tuscola, Illinois; one daughter, Jill (Kerry) Banning of St. Peters, Missouri; one brother, Bob North of Brocton, Illinois; one sister, Sue (Jim) Halloran of Paris, Illinois, one granddaughter, Shelby North, several nieces and nephews, and a dear friend, Mary Walker of Terre Haute, Indiana. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Sharon Brengle and Charlotte North. Visitation will be held Saturday, January 29, 2011 from 5:00p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Krabel Funeral Home in Oakland, Illinois. Funeral services will be held Sunday, January 30, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Oakland Cemetery. For those who wish, memorials may be made to the Redmon Christian Church in care of the funeral home.
