Obituary for James Jay Hoel
James Jay Hoel, age 70, of Oakland, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, October 31, 2010 from his home. He was born July 28, 1940 in rural Newman to Harley Byrl and Irma Florence (Shunk) Hoel. He married Bonnie Gayle Luttrell on February 17, 1963 at the Brocton Christian Church; she survives. Also surviving are one son, Jeff (Connie) Hoel of Hindsboro, IL; one daughter, Monica (Aaron) Pedigo of Athens, IL; one brother, John (Donna) Hoel of Tuscola, IL; five grandchildren, Brittni, Zach, Jack, and Alex Hoel and Hannah Dhom; two nephews, Duff and Drew Hoel. He was preceded in death by his parents and several aunts and uncles. James was a farmer who enjoyed antique tractor pulling and listening to gospel music. He was also the owner of Hoel Trucking and Backhoe service for over 50 years. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, November 7, 2010 at 5:00 p.m. at the First Church of God in Newman, Illinois. Visitation will be held for two hours prior to the service, beginning at 3:00 p.m. For those who wish, memorials may be made to the First Church of God in Newman.
