James “Buck” Ewing, age 69, of Oakland, IL, died Monday, September 23, 2024, at Charleston Rehabilitation & Healthcare Center.
James was born November 10, 1954, in Paris, IL, to David and Delorma (Hawkins) Ewing. He grew up on the farm by Brocton and spent his adult years on the farm in rural Oakland. He worked as a farmer and attended the Brocton Christian Church in his younger years. He was also a former member of the Kansas Masonic Lodge #280, and the Valley of Danville Consistory Scottish Rite of Freemasonry having earned his 32nd degree. He enjoyed music, snowmobiling, and riding four wheelers but his two favorite things to do were fishing in Key West, FL and farming
James is survived by his life partner of 30 years: Sandra Sue King; a son: Jesse (Emily) Ewing; two grandchildren: Jordan and Reed Ewing of Paris, IL; a sister: Carol Kelly of Brocton, IL; a cousin: Steve (Shirley) Ewing of Temple, TX; and a nephew: Sean (Celeste) Pearcy of Lafayette, CO.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, October 26, 2024, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Krabel Funeral Home in Oakland, IL. Online messages of sympathy may be left at www.krabelfuneralhome.com.
