Obituary for James Ben Benjamin Jenness
James Benjamin Jenness, age 90, of Chrisman died Thursday, May 2, 2013 at Presence United Samaritans Medical Center in Danville, IL. Ben was born June 9, 1922 to Robert H. and Goldie Pearl (Pilkenton) Jenness in Cherry Point, IL. He married Bonnie Lee Minnick on May 21, 1950 at the Chrisman United Methodist Church. He is survived by four children: Dixie (Barney) Webb of Ankeny, IA, Jim Jenness of Chrisman, IL, Joy Stewart of Chrisman, IL and Joe (Debbie) Jenness of Big Rock, IL; one brother, Richard Jenness of Fisher, IL; one sister, Mary Martin of Morris, IL; one brother in law, Ron Knicely of Paris, IL; seven grandchildren: Trevor Ashton of Lexington, SC, Brittany Hamolia of Odenton, MD, James Jenness of Redmon, IL, Hildie Webb of Davenport, IA, Barnard Benjamin Webb of Ankeny, IA, Katie Joan Jenness of Leroy, IL and Joe Andrew Jenness of Big Rock, IL and eight great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, two brothers and two sisters. Ben was a lifelong resident of Chrisman working as the first Supervisor of Assessments in Edgar County. He served our country in the U.S. Army Air Forces during World War II. He was also a member of the Chrisman United Methodist Church, the Chrisman American Legion Post # 477 and the Bloomfield Masonic Lodge # 148. He enjoyed collecting coins and antiques and loved playing cards. Funeral services will be held Monday, May 6, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. at Krabel Funeral Home. Visitation will be held for two hours prior beginning at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery. For those who wish, memorials may be made to Pleasant Meadows Christian Village – Activity Fund or Chrisman Public Library.
