James Eugene Allison, age 89 of Chrisman, passed away on Monday, August 27, 2012 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, IL. James was born September 17, 1922 in Arcola, IL to James Henry and Mamie Elizabeth (King) Allison. He married Pearl Lucille Osborn on August 16, 1942 at the First Baptist Church in Chrisman. James was a veteran of WWII, serving in the United States Army. He was a lifelong resident of Chrisman and was a member of the Chrisman First Baptist Church, a lifetime member of Chrisman American Legion Post 477, a lifetime member of Voiture 40 & 8, and the Izaak Walton League. He was self-employed in the recycling industry and enjoyed hunting, fishing and loved to be outdoors. He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Lucille Allison of Chrisman, IL; a daughter, Cheryl Garst and her husband, Steven; a sister, Madge Hobson of Maryville, IN; three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 29, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. at Krabel Funeral Home in Chrisman. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service, beginning at noon. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery. For those who wish, memorials may be made to the 40 & 8 Nursing Scholarship or to Pleasant Meadows Christian Village Haven Center. in care of the funeral home.
