Jack Edward McGahey, age 90, of Ashmore, IL, died Tuesday, December 27, 2022, at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center.
Jack was born December 8, 1932, in Charleston, IL, to Clemmons and Ulabelle (Slater) McGahey. He married Joanne Small on October 5, 1958; she preceded him in death.
He is survived by his “adopted” kids, Judd and Stormie Coffman of Ashmore, IL, and dear friends Gary and Linda Cornwell and Dirk and Jan Cornwell of Arthur, IL.
Jack was a veteran of the United States Army. He was a member of the Oakland V.F.W. Post 3637, Kansas American Legion Post 539, the Casey Moose Lodge, Masonic Lodge, and Shriners International. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, and loved his dogs.
A graveside funeral will be held on Monday, January 2, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at Oakland Cemetery. For those who wish, memorials in Jack’s honor may be made to the Coles County Animal Shelter.
