Harry Duane Updegraff, age 65, of Ashmore, IL passed away Sunday, May 11, 2014 at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana, IL, with his family at his side. Duane was born November 19, 1948 in rural Martinsville, IL to Lloyd Estie and Lola Mary (Maxey) Updegraff. He worked 20 years as the Ashmore Township road commissioner. He was a member of the Ashmore Presbyterian Church, the Casey Moose Lodge, the Ashmore Masonic Lodge #390, the Danville Consistory, where he achieved the level of 32nd degree mason, and he was also a member of the Shrine. Duane enjoyed welding, operating heavy equipment and hunting. He loved spending time with his family and many friends. Consistent with his warm and giving spirit, Duane chose to be an organ donor through Gift of Hope. Duane is survived by his wife, Lucille Davidson Updegraff; his children: Marci (Terry) Overstreet of Mattoon, IL, Michele VonBehrens of Oakland, IL, Kurt Updegraff of Ashmore, IL, Becky (Darald) Osborne of Hudson, FL and Amy (Shane) Brown of Casey, IL; a sister, Charlotte Thompson of Martinsville, IL; a brother in law, Brian Twait of Somonauk, IL; an uncle, Victor (Sandy) Maxey of Casey, IL; an aunt, Esther Grant of Kansas, IL; ten grandchildren: Summer Overstreet, Andrew Updegraff, Ashley Updegraff, Clint VonBehrens, Dylan Veach, Taylor Veach, Tristan Brown, Andrew McGregor, Gary McGregor and Tyler McGregor; a great-granddaughter: Chloe Tieman; a great-grandson: Hunter McGregor; two nieces: NicciNaramore and CassiRhoton; a nephew: Jack Limes; and a great friend for over 50 years, Mick Griffith. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Mary Jo Twait; a grandson, Keith VonBehrens; and a niece, Angela Limes Visitation will be held Wednesday, May 14, 2014 from 4:00p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Krabel Funeral Home in Oakland, IL. Masonic services will follow the visitation. In accordance with Duane’s wishes, casual attire is encouraged. Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 15, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at St. Omer Cemetery. For those who wish, memorials may be made to the family.
