Obituary for Geraldine Wood Hafele
Geraldine (Dorman) (Wood) Hafele, age 101 of Chrisman, died Sunday, April 8, 2012 at Pleasant Meadows Christian Village in Chrisman, IL. Geraldine was born February 12, 1911 in Rankin, IL to Bert and Bessie (Foley) Dorman. She married Irvin B. Wood on August 5, 1932; he preceded her in death in 1971. She later married Robert Hafele, who also preceded her in death in 2011. Geraldine was a homemaker, and a member of the Chrisman First Baptist Church and the Chrisman American Legion Auxiliary. She is survived by a son, Don Wood of Chrisman, IL; a daughter, Sharon Kay (Joe) Smith of Chrisman, IL; two step-sons: Lane (Sondra) Hafele of Morton, IL and Rick (Carol) Hafele of Portland, OR; a step-daughter, Donna Chockley, of Bethlehem, PA; nine grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; six step-great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and a special sister-in-law, Loraine Dorman of Rankin, IL. In addition to two husbands, she was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Bill J. Wood; a grandson, Billy Wood; one daughter in law, Lois Wood; one step-son, Larry Hafele and one brother. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 11. 2012 at 1:00 p.m. at Krabel Funeral Home in Chrisman. Visitation will be held for two hours prior to the service, beginning at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Friends Chapel Cemetery. For those who wish, memorials may be made to the Pleasant Meadows Christian Village Activity Fund in care of the funeral home.
