Obituary for Gary Lowell Cummins
Gary Lowell Cummins, age 61, of Brocton, passed away on October 31, 2010. He was born December 14, 1948 in Paris, Illinois to Lowell "Banty" Cummins and Louise Wright Cummins. He married Lois Richey on May 24, 1975 in Brocton. He is survived by two sons, Thad Cummins of Brocton, IL and Shon (Niki) Cummins of Kansas, IL; and a grandson, Trevyn Cummins. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lois, and a grandson, Caden Cummins. Gary was a lifelong resident of Brocton. He worked as the Embarrass Township Road Commissioner for 28 years and was a 41 year member of the Brocton Fire Department. He was also a long time member of the Brocton Spring Festival Draft Horse Committee. Gary was an avid sportsman. He enjoyed hunting and fishing with family and friends. In more recent years, he had taken up the hobby of drag racing. Gary never passed up the opportunity to have a cup of coffee and visit with friends at the local restaurant. Gary was a devoted husband, father and grandfather and will be greatly missed. Visitation will be held on Friday, November 5, 2010 from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at Krabel Funeral Home in Oakland. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 6, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home, with burial to follow at Embarrass Cemetery. For those who wish, memorials may be made to the Brocton Firemen's Association or the Brocton Spring Festival Draft Horse Committee in care of the funeral home.
