Obituary for Frederick Paul Wilcoxon
Frederick Paul Wilcoxon, age 76, of Oakland, died Monday, July 5, 2010 at Sarah Bush Lincoln Hospital in Mattoon, IL. Mr. Wilcoxon was born August 17, 1933 in rural Brocton to Odes and Maude (Harmon) Wilcoxon. He married Carol Ann Ogdon in 1951. He later married Clara Miller, she preceded him in death in 2007. He served in the United States Army from 1953 to 1955 earning the rank of corporal. He was a lifelong resident of the Brocton area where he farmed. He also spent many winters in Florida. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Paris, and liked tennis, playing pool, crossword puzzles, walking, motorcycling and enjoyed games of chance. He is survived by a son, Monte (Dianne) Wilcoxon of Philo, IL; a daughter, Marla (Sylvester) McLeod of Bradenton, FL; a brother Jim Wilcoxon of Winterset, Iowa; two sisters, Betty Hunt of Oakland and Donna Smith of Benton, IL.; four grandchildren, Angela McLeod Wilkins, Laura McLeod, Brian Wilcoxon and Jason Wilcoxon; two great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Clara, one brother and one sister. Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 8, 2010 from 4:00 to 7:00p.m. at Krabel Funeral Home in Oakland. Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 9, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Embarrass Cemetery. For those who wish, memorials may be made to the Oakland V.F.W. Post #3637 in care of the funeral home.
