Obituary for Franz Frederick Coon
Franz Frederick "Fred" Coon West Point, Mississippi - Franz Frederick "Fred" Coon, 71, passed away, Thursday, January 20, 2011 at the MS State Veterans Home-Oxford. He was born June 13, 1939 in Edgar County Illinois to the late Myrle Young and Howard Hugh Coon. Mr. Coon was a Maintenance Worker for the Illinois Department of Transportation Mattoon-Storage for 32 years. He moved to West Point in 2006 from Charleston, IL. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army having served from 1959-1961. Franz Frederick Coon married Marilyn Childress Coon on January 17, 1962, in Paris, Edgar County Illinois. Funeral services will be Tuesday, January 25, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. with the Rev. Jesse Adams officiating, at Krabel Funeral Home in Oakland, IL. Burial will follow in Oakland Cemetery with Military Honors. Visitation will be Monday, January 24, 4:00-8:00 p.m. with Masonic Rites concluding the visitation at Krabel Funeral Home. Survivors include his wife, Marilyn Childress Coon of West Point, MS; one daughter, Lynn Ann Fisher (David) of Aberdeen, MS; one grandson, Daniel Fisher; three sisters, Florence Marland of Richmond, VA, Virginia Greger (Don) of Champaign, IL, Barbara Clark (Stu) of Champaign, IL; three brothers, Harold Coon (Dolores) of Columbus, OH, Paul Coon (Lois) of Oakland, IL, Robert Coon (Joyce) of Humboldt, IL. Daughter, Amelia Arlene “Amy” Coon, sister Martha Tokarchick and brother Charles Robert Coon all preceded him in death. Honorary Pallbearers will be Employees of District 5 at Mattoon Storage Memorials may be made to the MS State Veterans Home-Oxford, 120 Veterans Drive, Oxford, MS 38655.
