Obituary for Eunice Oritha Davis
Eunice Oritha (Padgett) Davis, age 89 of Oakland, IL, went home to be with the Lord and was reunited with her husband and other beloved family members on Wednesday, August 12, 2015 at Sarah Bush Lincoln Healthcare Center in Mattoon, IL.
Eunice was born September 29, 1925 in Manitou Springs, CO to Samuel and Hazel (Hallowell) Padgett. She married Truman Davis on June 14, 1943 in St. Louis, MO, and they were married 69 years before he preceded her in death in 2012. She attended Oak Grove Separate Baptist Church and was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. Eunice enjoyed crocheting, sewing, travel, playing cards, puzzles, and loved spending time with her grandchildren.
She is survived by four children: Thomas Davis of Oakland, IL, Vicki Craft of Oakland, IL, Trudy Chapman of Oakland, IL and Gayle (Terry) Garrett of Oakland, IL; a sister: LaVerne Bell of Charleston, IL; ten grandchildren: Tammy (Jim) Tyler, Melinda (Christopher) Krenn, Christina (Bobby) Carl, Lance (Michelle) Craft, Michelle Bonebrake, Amie (Aaron) Deckard, Jason (Kyndal) Chapman, Sheena (Craig) Wesch, Nathan (Shari) Garrett and Adam (Amanda) Garrett; twenty-one great-grandchildren and two step-great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, one brother: Herman Padgett, one grandson: Carlin Chapman, one daughter-in-law: Judy Davis, and two sons-in-law: Ed Chapman and Ronnie Craft.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 16, 2015 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Krabel Funeral Home in Oakland. Funeral services will be held Monday, August 17 at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Oakland Cemetery. For those wish, memorials may be made to the Coles County Humane Society or the Oakland Food Pantry.
