Obituary for Ethel Jeanne Woodyard
Ethel Jeanne (Richey) Woodyard, age 83 of Ashmore, died Friday, June 1, 2012 at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center in Mattoon. Ethel was born May 26, 1929 in Ashmore, Illinois to Allen and Beatrice (Shoot) Richey. She married Ray Woodyard on September 29, 1947; he survives. She is also survived by two sons, Monte Woodyard of Ashmore, and Doug (Susan) Woodyard of Ashmore; a brother, Rex Richey of Ashmore; four sisters, Irene (Willis) Woodyard of Chrisman, Erlene (Tom) Shaffer of Ashmore, Lois (Paul) Coon of Oakland and Virginia Brown of Iowa; four grandchildren, Krista Woodyard of Mattoon, Kayla Parsley of Iowa, Tiffany (Alan) Ingle of Toledo and Cory Woodyard of Ashmore; and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and one sister. Ethel was a lifelong resident of Ashmore and a member of the Ashmore Baptist Church. She enjoyed providing home care for the elderly. She loved bingo and cooking, and previously ran a restaurant and worked at EIU as a janitor. Visitation will be held on Monday, June 4, 2012 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Krabel Funeral Home in Oakland. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 5 at 11:00 a.m. at the Ashmore Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Ashmore Cemetery.
