Eloise Ann (Harshbarger) Powers, age 89, of Oakland, IL, died Thursday, April 13, 2023, at Odd Fellow-Rebekah Home in Mattoon, IL.
Eloise was born June 12, 1933, in Arcola, IL, to Dallas Benson and Alethe Marie (Emery) Harshbarger. She married Thomas Milton Powers on September 7, 1952, in Sullivan, IL.
She is survived by four children: Michael (Terrie) Powers of Batavia, IL, Philip R. Powers of LeRoy, IL, David (Sheila) Powers of Monticello, IL, and Julianne (Rooney) Blumthal of Tolono, IL; a sister: Marilyn Dennis of Ft Smith Arkansas; and eight grandchildren: Alex Vranek of Batavia, IL, Ian (Ashley) Powers of Elgin, IL, Duncan (Lupé) Powers of Aurora, IL, Jared Powers of Bloomington, IL, Leah Powers (DeJuan Marquez) of Orange City, FL, Zachary (Stephanie) Trueblood of Champaign, IL, Katelyn Ashton of Monticello, IL, and Thomas Blumthal of Joliet, IL. She was preceded in death by her husband and her sister Nancy Malone.
Eloise was member of the Oakland Christian Church and belonged to BCL, Ladies Aid, and LMI Club. In addition to raising her family, she worked for a CPA, took in ironings at her home, and worked in retail clothing. She enjoyed sewing, needlepoint, and crochet.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 18, 2023, from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Krabel Funeral Home in Oakland, IL. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 19, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Oakland Cemetery. For those who wish, memorials in Eloise’s honor may be made to the Oakland Memorial Library.
