Obituary for Edward Carlin Chapman
Edward “Chappy” Carlin Chapman, age 75, of Oakland went home to be with the Lord on Friday, January 18, 2013 at home. Chappy was born February 14, 1937 in Hume, Illinois to Carlin and Viola (Darrough) Chapman. He married Trudy Jean Davis on August 3, 1976 in Oakland, Illinois. Chappy was a veteran of the United States Army, stationed in Alaska. He was a retired truck driver. He was active in the Oakland and Paris Masonic Lodges, where he achieved his 32nd degree. He was also a member of the Shrine for several years. Chappy enjoyed camping, fishing, campfires with friends and spending time with family and his new granddaughter. For many years, Chappy and Trudy dressed as Santa and Mrs. Claus for the city of Oakland. He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Trudy; one son, Jason (Kyndal) Chapman; one brother, Jerry Chapman and one granddaughter, Calla Chapman. He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Carlin Gene Chapman; one sister, Bonnie Lou Chapman; several aunts and one uncle. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 22, 2013 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Krabel Funeral Home in Oakland, with Masonic services to follow. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 23, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Oakland Cemetery, with military rites performed by Oakland VFW Post #3637 and Brocton American Legion Post #977. For those who wish, memorials may be made to the Chapman family.
