Dorothy S. Rogers, 92, passed away Tuesday, May 14 at Horizon Health in Paris, Illinois. Dorothy was born July 12, 1926 in Chrisman, Illinois, the daughter of Chester and Winifred (Hoult) Slemmons. She married Richard H. Rogers on August 26, 1951. He preceded her in death. She is survived by her sister, Miriam Slemmons, of Houston Texas and two sons, George (Carol) Rogers, of Naples, Florida and Steve (Terri) Rogers of Chrisman, Illinois. Also surviving are 5 Grandchildren: Christine (Scott) Dierker, Laura Rogers, Ben (Linda) Rogers, Levi (Rita) Rogers, and John (Katie) Rogers and nine great grandchildren. They include Max, Sam, and Nora Dierker, Casen and Stevan Rogers, Wynn and Mae Rogers, and Elias and Hazel Rogers.
Dorothy was a graduate of Chrisman High School and Purdue University where she was a life loyal member of Alpha Chi Omega. She taught school for two years in Knightstown, Indiana before returning to Chrisman.
She was a lifelong member of the First Baptist Church of Chrisman. Dorothy served as Chairman of the Chrisman Centennial Celebration in 1972. She was also a member of the D.A.R. and the Priscilla Club.
Dorothy had a passion for travel and enjoyed many years as a private pilot. Her greatest pleasure was spending time with her family.
A celebration of her life will be held at First Baptist Church of Chrisman at 1 p.m. on May 17, 2019 with Pastor Ken Crawford officiating. Visitation will commence at 11 a.m. prior to the service. Burial in the Cherry Point Cemetery will follow. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church of Chrisman, 308 East Madison or a charity of choice.
