Obituary for Dennie J. Knight
Dennie J. Knight, age 68, of Chrisman, IL, passed away Wednesday, October 8, 2014 at Carle Foundation Hospital.
Dennie was born September 9, 1946 in Paris, Illinois to Jesse Wood Knight and Mildred Bell Knight. He married Merrilee Anderson on August 21, 1971 in Sandwich, Illinois; she survives.
A lifelong resident of the Chrisman area, Dennie owned Knight Insurance Services, Inc. since 1979. He was a member of the Bloomfield Masonic Lodge #148, Edgar County Shrine Club, Sons of the American Legion Post #477, FarmHouse Fraternity, and proud alumnus of the University of Illinois. He also served as a past FFA State Vice President and on the Georgetown Fair Board.
Dennie was active in the community and enjoyed working with the Chrisman Athletic and Academic Booster Clubs, the Chrisman Economic Development Committee, and he helped organize the Chrisman 125th Anniversary Celebration. Dennie always greatly enjoyed family and friends. He was a lifelong outdoorsman, as well as a fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and the University of Illinois Fighting Illini.
He is also survived by two sons: Mathew J. Knight (Sara) of Kildeer, IL and Lucas Ray Knight (Brooke) of Chrisman, IL; and three grandchildren: Ella, Anderson, and Piper. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be held on Friday, October 10, 2014 from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Krabel Funeral Home in Chrisman with a memorial service at 6:30 p.m. with Masonic rites to follow. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Edgar County Shrine Club.
