Obituary for David Jeffery Wilson

David Jeffery Wilson (Dave) was born in Charleston, Illinois on August 5,1958. The son of Kenneth and Doris (Hendrix) Wilson, who preceded him in death.

David grew up in Charleston and graduated from Charleston High School in 1976. After graduation David joined the United States Army, where he received training in Military Intelligence. He attended Basic Training in Fort Leonard Wood, MO and served in Germany during most of his time with the Army. David received an honorable discharge from active duty in November 1983.

When David returned to Charleston from active duty in the Army, he had his sights set on a career in Law Enforcement. It was really all he ever wanted to do, and David was hoping the experience he acquired in Intelligence with the US Government would help him achieve that goal in his hometown...Charleston, IL.

In 1984 David joined the Coles County Sheriff’s Department as a Deputy. He graduated from the Illinois Department of Corrections Academy in 1985, and in 1989 David graduated in the top 10% of his class at the University of Illinois Police Training Institute.

David accomplished his goal and was enjoying his career as a Coles County Deputy. However, in 1993 David developed an illness that prevented him from continuing his career in law enforcement. He had nine years of living his dream before developing an illness that he would struggle with for the remainder of his life.

David is survived by his daughter-in-law, Heather Marie Bounds, Granddaughter, Kenzlee Parker and Grandson, Kash Steven; sister Judith Wilson-Malone and husband Michael; brothers: Kenneth W. Wilson, Kansas, Illinois and Phillip Preese and wife Janet, Newburgh, IN... a sister, Patricia Elaine passed away in 1969.
