Obituary for Darrell Duane Warner
Darrell Duane Warner, age 51, of Oakland, died Sunday, May 27, 2012 at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center in Mattoon. Darrell was born March 3, 1961 in Mattoon, IL to Harold Duane and Kathryn Eula (Price) Warner. He married Joyce Evard on November 18, 1983; she survives. He is also survived by a son, Darren Warner (Whitney Massey) of Oakland; two daughters, Jeniece Nickles of Oakland and Mandy (Wil) Prater of Oakland; his mother, Kathryn Warner of Oakland; two brothers, Brian (Lisa) Warner of Oakland and Brad (Kim) Warner of Hindsboro; a sister, Barb Rice of Oakland, IL; two grandchildren, Jonika Nickles and Ethan Prater, both of Oakland; five nieces, LeAnn (Doug) Weddle, Ashley Warner (Matt Taylor), Trisha Warner, Emily Warner, and Baylee Rice; and a special great-nephew, Collin Weddle. He was preceded in death by his father. Darrell was a lifelong resident of Oakland. He loved to work on the farm, spending time with his kids and grandkids, talking with neighbors and going to Casey’s. Darrell believed that family was the most important thing in life and his actions reflected it. He could usually be found working with his brothers on the farm, giving his grandkids a ride on the four-wheeler and tractors, going to the races, or going out to eat with his family. Visitation will be held Wednesday, May 30, 2012 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Krabel Funeral Home in Oakland. Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 31 at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Van Voorhis Cemetery. For those who wish, memorials may be made to the family to establish a college fund for his grandchildren.
