Clarence Milton Lance, age 75, of Hindsboro, IL, died January 27, 2026, at his home.
Clarence was born April 14, 1950, in Tuscola, IL, to Cyrus and Mary Lenore (Cox) Lance. He married Teresa Lee Wynn on December 29, 1979, at the Oakland Christian Church; she survives.
He is also survived by three children: Bill Lance of Potomac, IL, Kim Romine (Jeff) of Potomac, IL, and Blake Lance of Hindsboro, IL; a sister: Mary Elaine Kunz of Lambertville, MI; two granddaughters: Brianna and Brittany; and one great-granddaughter: Eve. He was preceded in death by a brother: Robert Lance; a brother-in-law: Tom Kunz; and two nephews: Rob and Jamie Kunz.
Clarence was a lifelong resident of Hindsboro. He graduated from Oakland High School in 1968. As a young man he worked at the Brocton elevator. He sold feed for a time and invented electric rollout bleachers while working at CS Johnson in Champaign. He then worked at the Clinton Power Plant as a welder and at Trailmobile. Between jobs, Clarence graduated with high honors from Lakeland College in engineering. He then was employed with Kam Solutions and Geocon, where he enjoyed traveling the Midwest. He also helped with Wynn Pest Control as needed.
Clarence was a valuable source of information about Hindsboro history. He was a man of many talents and hobbies, including gardening, welding sculpture, whittling, and reading. He could often be found helping wherever he was needed and driving his golfcart with his canine companion through the streets of Hindsboro.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 31, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at Krabel Funeral Home in Oakland, IL. Funeral services will follow, beginning at 11:30 a.m. Burial will follow in VanVoorhis Cemetery. For those who wish, monetary gifts to the Lance family may be made in lieu of flowers to help with final expenses.
