Carol Ann (Rose) Nixon, age 68, of Oakland, IL, died March 12, 2025, at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center.
Carol was born March 14, 1956, in Charleston, IL, to Robert and Dana (Applegate) Rose. She married Dick Edward Nixon on March 17, 1974; he survives.
She is also survived by a son: Jared Nixon (Hillary Stackhouse) of Champaign, IL; her mother: Dana Rose of Oakland, IL; a brother: James Rose of Jasper, TX; a sister: Lisa Rose Buckmaster of Oakland, IL; and six grandchildren: Chase Nixon, Zachary Nixon, Isadora Kafman, Henry Kafman, Haydn Kafman, and Genevive Kafman. She was preceded in death by her father and a brother: Robert Rose, Jr.
Carol worked as a bookkeeper for Diener Accounting. She enjoyed collecting various treasures and cruising in their Corvettes with Dick. She was a fan of Cardinals baseball and Illini basketball and loved going to her grandchildren’s sporting events. Her greatest love in life was her family, and she truly had a servant’s heart that will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 19, 2025, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Krabel Funeral Home in Oakland. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 20, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Gwinn Cemetery. For those who wish, memorials in Carol’s honor may be made to the Coles County Animal Shelter or the Oakland-Hindsboro Charitable Foundation.
