Obituary for Byron "Bud" Livengood
Byron Nelson “Bud” Livengood, age 96, of Ridge Farm, IL, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, May 13, 2019 at his Ridge Farm, IL home of 72 years. Bud was born December 8, 1922 in Danville, IL to the late Leslie Parker Livengood and Beulah (Faris) Livengood. He moved to Urbana, IL where he graduated high school in February 1941. Bud served in the U.S. Navy from May 1941 until February 1946. He married his high school sweetheart, Elizabeth Pauline “Betty” Boughers on June 9, 1942. Following the war, Bud and Betty settled in Ridge Farm, IL. Bud completed studies at the Monroe College of Optometry in Chicago, and was employed by the Central Foundry Plant in Tilton, IL, where he retired after 43 years. Bud was a member of Ridge Farm Friends Church. He served on the Ridge Farm Grade School Board of Education for several years. Bud and Betty had four children whom they both treasured. Bud had a lifelong love of the outdoors, and he enjoyed fishing, attending the Indy 500 time trials and Cardinal and Cubs baseball games. Most of all, he loved the time he spent with his family. Bud was preceded in death by his loving wife, Betty. They enjoyed 50 wonderful years together. Bud was also preceded in death by his parents, one sister: Hilda Llewellyn Martin, and a great-grandson. He is survived by his children: Rex Livengood of Brenham, TX; Sally (Lloyd) Zuber of Rockville, IN; Ted (Sue) Livengood of Urbana, IL; and Hal (Jodi) Livengood of Douglas County, IL; twelve grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren. He will be dearly missed by them all. Funeral services will be held on Monday, May 20, 2019 at the Ridge Farm Friends Church at 12:00 p.m., with pastors Gary Romoser, and Joe and Melinda White officiating. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service, beginning at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Crown Hill Cemetery. For those who wish, memorials may be made to the Ridge Farm Fire Department.
