Obituary for Benny Joe Huddleston
Benny Joe “Ben” Huddleston, 85, of Charleston, IL, went home to be with his family on Monday, March 20, 2017 at 5:37 PM at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, IL. Ben was born July 18, 1931 in Charleston, IL, the son of Harold and Alta Huddleston. Ben spent many years living and building in Tuscon, AZ, where he gained interest in the Navajo people, especially the children. Since then, he has funded the schooling for many Navajo children even through college. He was very generous and gave to the Wounded Warrior Project and St. Judes Children’s Hospital as well. He enjoyed researching genealogy, mowing, taking care of his lawn and wildlife. Ben was preceded in death by two sons, Brian Huddleston and Terry Huddleston, both of Charleston, IL; two brothers and three sisters. He is survived by his daughter, Jana Kyle Huddleston of Charleston, IL, three grandchildren; Coartney Hale (Harold Zuniga) of Charleston, IL; Jamie Huddleston of Charleston, IL; and Jessica Huddleston of Carbondale, IL; several nieces and nephews including Cheryl Bennett, Matthew Bullock, Alan (Debbie) Huddleston, Beverly (Matt) Pederson and Corky Stingley; and two great-grandsons, Trenton Stewart and Chilton Zuniga.
Visitation will be held Monday, March 27, 2017 from 5-7 PM. Funeral services celebrating his life will be held Tuesday, March 28 at 11AM at the Krabel Funeral Home in Oakland, IL.
