Obituary for Ardith Alice Orr
Ardith Alice (Reeves) Orr, age 98 of Gifford, IL and formerly of Chrisman, IL, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, March 25, 2017 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, IL.
Ardith was born April 2, 1918 in Potomac, IL to Clell and Hazel (Johnson) Reeves. She graduated from Potomac High School with high honors and after graduation, worked as secretary for the National Youth Administration (NYA) for the Danville area. Ardith married Harold Orr on April 26, 1940 in Hannibal, MO, and they farmed in the Chrisman area for over thirty-five years. Ardith loved to make scrapbooks and journaling, and was known for sending cards for all occasions. She also enjoyed chocolate and had a lifelong love of animals. Ardith was a member of Stone Creek Church in Rantoul, and was president of the Country Health, Inc. Auxiliary.
She is survived by two nephews: Kris & Mary Forbes and Dan & Cathy Forbes; her care givers: Iris Elliot, and Dewain & Marilyn Moore; and her adopted family: the residents at Pleasant View Manor and all the personnel at Country Health, Inc. She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; an infant sister: Laura June Reeves; a sister: Eileen Forbes; and a nephew: Bill Forbes, Jr.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 30, 2017 at Stone Creek Church in Rantoul at 11:00 a.m. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service, beginning at 10:0 0a.m. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery in Chrisman. For those who wish, memorials may be made to the Champaign County Humane Society or Country Health, Inc. Auxiliary. Krabel funeral home of Chrisman is assisting the family with arrangements.
