Obituary for Anna Maria Mitchell
Anna Maria Mitchell age 93 of Chrisman, IL passed away on Tuesday, April 16, 2019, at Paris Community Hospital. Anna Maria was born May 19, 1925 in Munich, Germany to Johann and Theresia (Baumer) Bogner. She met her husband, Chandler Mitchell in June of 1946 at the U.S. Army Ordinance Depot in Munich, where she worked as a clerk and typist, and Chandler was a T-5 at the Military Police Detachment. She came to the U.S. on January 7, 1949 and spent five days on Ellis Island. She arrived in Chrisman, IL on January 13th, and she married Chandler soon after on January 26 in Danville, IL. Together, they had three children, seven granddaughters, and 15 great-grandchildren, and they enjoyed many wonderful years together. Anna Maria worked at Cummins Drugstore in Chrisman and at Zenith in Paris for 21 years, and was a member of The German Oberlanders Club in Terre Haute, IN since 1983. She loved music, dancing, crafts, puzzles, traveling, gardening, and flowers. Most of all, she loved her family and friends. Anna Maria was preceded in death by her parents and her brother Walter in Germany, her husband Chandler, and two brothers-in-law, Jim and John Mitchell. She is survived by three children: David Mitchell of Chrisman, IL; Rebecca (Jerry) Cusick of Paris, IL; and Tom (Gina) Mitchell of Chrisman, IL; one sister: Eleanor Janson of Karlsfeld, Germany; seven grandchildren: Carri (Dan) Hoffman of Paris, IL; Suzi Cusick of Paris, IL; Connie Cusick of Terre Haute, IN; Candi Cusick of Terre Haute, IN; Heather (Darrin) Johnson of Paris, IL; Emily (Chris) Sontag of California; and Dee Dee (Todd) Georges of Catlin, IL; fifteen great-grandchildren; and a sister-in-law: Eleanor (Jim) Taylor of Indianapolis, IN. Visitation will be held Tuesday, April 23, 2019 from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. at Krabel Funeral Home in Chrisman. A graveside funeral will follow at Hoult Cemetery at 3:30 p.m.
