Obituary for Amanda Jo Clapp
Amanda Jo (Dickson) Clapp, age 60 of Oakland, IL died Wednesday, September 4, 2019 at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, MO. Amanda was born November 25, 1958 in Paris, IL to Leonard A. and Eva Darlene (Marrs) Dickson. She married Mark Joseph Clapp on December 17, 1977 at the Oakland Christian Church; he survives. She is also survived by her children: Nicholas (Karen) Clapp of Oakland, IL and Jared (Micayla) Clapp of Oakland, IL; her mother: Eva Dickson of Brocton, IL; a brother: Mark (Pam) Dickson of Brocton, IL; two sisters: Cindy (John) McGinness of Brocton, IL and Teresa (Joe) Blake of Borton, IL; six grandchildren: Kenzley, Henry, Owen, Landon, Lincoln, and Raleigh Clapp. She was preceded in death by her father, a sister: Melinda Armentrout; and two nephews: Rory Ford and Carlton Armentrout. Amanda graduated from Oakland High School in 1976 and Lakeland College School of Nursing. She worked as a nurse for Dr. Arrol and Sarah Bush Lincoln for 37 years. She was a member of the Oakland Christian Church. Amanda enjoyed coaching and playing softball, cooking and baking, and was an avid mushroom hunter. She also loved her flowers and planting a garden. Family time was precious to Amanda. She enjoyed playing cards, games with her family members, and watching her kids and grandchildren play sports. She cherished playing with her grandchildren. She also was a member of the Oakland Sports Booster Club. Visitation will be held on Monday, September 9, 2019 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Krabel Funeral Home in Oakland, IL. A private family interment will be held on Saturday, September 14, 2019 at Pleasant Grove Cemetery. For those who wish, memorials may be made to Children’s Hospital of St. Louis.
