Albert Eugene “Gene” Woodworth, age 90, of Charleston, IL, died April 8, 2025, at the Odd Fellow-Rebekah Home in Mattoon, IL.
Gene was born September 13, 1934, in rural Oakland, IL, to Clarence Albert and Ethel Maxine (Crane) Woodworth. He married Margaret Ann Edman on August 7, 1953.
Gene was a member of the Baptist faith and was always involved in various church groups. He was a former Boy Scout leader. He and his wife lived in Arizona for eight years before returning to the Midwest. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, golfing, and gardening. He dearly loved spending time with his wife, children, and grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Margaret Woodworth, of Charleston, IL; six children: Pamela Samson (James) of Ogden, IL, Kathy Woodworth of Charleston, IL, Dennis Woodworth (Lydia) of Pass Christian, MS, Linda Shulaw (Daniel) of Lafayette, LA, Bradford Woodworth (Alicia) of Peoria, IL, and Laurel (Mark) Dennis of Inlet Beach, FL; eleven grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother.
A graveside funeral service will be held on Sunday, April 13, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Oakland Cemetery.
