Obituary for Selma Whitezel
Selma Krabel Whitezel, age 99 of Fishers, IN and formerly of Brocton, IL, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, August 30, 2017 at Hamilton Trace Senior Living. Selma was born October 19, 1917 in Hume, IL to Carl Lawrence and Anna Louvena (Tucker) Krabel. She married Will Hall Forsythe, who preceded her in death. She later married John Whitezel, who also preceded her in death. She is survived by two children: Delores (Paul) Mabrey of Kokomo, IN and Richard (Marcia) Forsythe of Fishers, IN; four grandchildren: Richard Forsythe and Sara (Brad) Menna of Chicago, IL, and Jason Mabrey and Travis Mabrey of Kokomo, IN; and five great-grandchildren: Lilly and Jackson Forsythe, Oliver and Wyatt Menna, and Sierra Mabrey. She was also preceded in death by a brother: Carl Krabel and a sister: Mary Krabel. Selma was raised in a farming family and farmed most of her adult life. She truly loved the farming life. She was a member of the Brocton Christian Church, Willing Workers, and Eastern Star. She raised and showed Shetland ponies. She also enjoyed crochet, Bunco, arts and crafts, gardening, baking and crossword puzzles. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 9, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at Krabel Funeral Home in Oakland. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in Young America Cemetery. For those who wish, memorials may be made to the Brocton Christian Church.
