Obituary for Katherine Marie Huffaker
Katherine Marie “Kat” Huffaker, age 66, of Chrisman, IL, passed away Friday, December 1st, 2017 at 4:40 p.m. at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, Illinois. She is survived by one daughter: Shawna J. (Huffaker) Boyer of Chrisman; a sister: Margaret “Peg” McCollum; three brothers: Chuck (Kay) Wolfe of Chrisman, Roger Wolfe of Indianapolis, IN, and Rodney (Melinda) Wolfe of Chrisman; a granddaughter: Sabrina Boyer of Chrisman; and several nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Homer and Josephine (Ballard) Wolfe. Katherine was born August 15th, 1951. She managed the Casey’s General Store in Chrisman for 25 years, and loved serving her community. She was a foster parent for many years, supported students in the Chrisman schools, and organized and ran the Spring Easter Egg Hunt in Chrisman for 16 years. She was an alumni of the FFA, enjoyed collecting Coca-Cola memorabilia, and working in and decorating her yard. Visitation will be held Thursday, December 7, 2017 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Krabel Funeral Home in Chrisman. Funeral services will be held Friday, December 8, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home, with burial to follow at Cherry Point Cemetery in Chrisman, IL. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorials be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Krabel Funeral home is handling arrangements for the family.
